Center spoke in Majilis of Kazakhstan

On March 1, 2018, the Center for Emergency Situations and Disaster Risk Reduction (hereafter the Center) took part in the Round Table of the Majilis of the Republic of Kazakhstan, organized by the Chamber’s Committee for International Affairs, Defense and Security “On the state and prospects of the development of the government system for the prevention and elimination of emergency situations.”

The meeting was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Majilis Vladimir Bozhko, parliamentarians, heads of ministries, departments, deputy akims of several regions, representatives of international and non-governmental organizations, experts. Welcoming the participants, Vice-Speaker Vladimir Bozhko congratulated participants on the World Civil Defense Day, which is celebrated on March 1.

During the Round Table, the Director of the Center reported on the activities of the Center since the opening on the strengthening of international cooperation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of prevention and elimination of natural and man-made disasters.

The Vice-Speaker said that the Majilis deputies are ready to provide all the necessary legislative support in solving important issues related to the disaster risk management.

Furthering the topic, Mukhtar Yerman, Chairman of the Majilis Committee on International Affairs, Defense and Security, emphasized the relevance of the topic under consideration, taking into account the attention paid by the country’s leadership to issues of civil protection, as well as the complex flood situation in several regions.
