Today, on March 12, 2018, head of the Center for Emergency Situations and Disaster Risk Reduction (hereafter the Center) met with the representative of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Geneva (hereinafter – UN OCHA), the coordinator for Central Asia, Caucasus, Latin America, Mr. Anvar Munavarov.
During the meeting, the Director informed Mr. Anvar Munavarov about the Center’s activities, functions, challenges, and performance. On the other hand, Mr. Anvar Munavarov informed the Center about the reform of OCHA and prospective for joint cooperation. He has placed emphasis on:
- GIS technology, mapping in emergency situations of natural and man-made disasters;
- Promoting matters of INSARAG in Central Asian countries;
- Assisting the Center in attracting the best existing practices;
- Increasing the technical capacity of the Center and forming the information base of the Center.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Anvar Munavarov defined the official OCHA focal point to engage with the Center.
