Results of Working Meeting with MapAction

On July 16, 2018 the Center for Emergency Situations and Disaster Risk Reduction (hereinafter – the Center) held a meeting with the representatives of the British non-governmental organization “MapAction” with the staff of the competent authorities in the field of prevention and elimination of natural and technogenic emergency situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic.

During the meeting, they discussed the main aspects of the mapping for emergency situations, certain basic needs in the disaster mapping, as well as the formation of a database of maps of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic using the Center’s capacity.

The aim of this project is to develop a robust and flexible information management system for response and recovery, implementation of the coordination mechanism in Central Asia,  both at the regional level as well as at national levels. Also, conducted activities will provide the better quality of GIS technology training for the competent authorities of the Center’s member states.
