On September 10, 2019 the Center for Emergency Situations and Disaster Risk Reduction attended as an observer the opening of the 24th Republican seminar of rescue units “Kazspas-2019” at the training base “Skalnyi gorod – Astana”, located in Tamgaly Tas, Almaty region.

The seminar’s participants during the opening were welcomed by the Deputy Chairman of the CoES MIA of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Talgat Nurmagambetov, Director of the Center of Emergency Situations and Disaster Risk Reduction – Valery Petrov, a veteran of the civil protection system of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Kobzhanov Alikhan, Director of DES Almaty region – Nurpeisov Erlan, coordinator of the public foundation “Volunteers of Kyzylorda” – Ersain Aisulu.

The seminar “Kazspas-2019” was attended by 16 rescue teams, including 14 operational-rescue teams of the Committee for Emergency Situations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Republican operative-rescue team, operational and rescue teams of the DES Akmola, Almaty, Aktobe, Zhambyl, West Kazakhstan, Karaganda, Pavlodar, Atyrau, Kostanai, East Kazakhstan, North Kazakhstan regions, and the cities of Nur Sultan and Shymkent) and 2 of the military units of the National Guard of Kazakhstan that will sharpen their skills for 10 days.

The training base “Skalnyi gorod – Astana”- the only landfill among the CIS countries is universally suited for all types of rescue operations. More than 20,000 rescue workers have retrained and canine services received annual certificates, improved their skills, along with divers and climbers, piloted rescue aircraft, the rescue teams of the country’s regions exchanged useful information, shared experience, and life-saving technologies.

 In 2011, with the direct assistance of the Head of the state Nursultan Nazarbayev, polygon “Rock city – Astana” given the status of basic international training site of the CSTO member states.

Center’s visit to the training base “Skalnyi gorod – Astana” was part of the preparatory activities for international exercises for capacity building of emergency rescue forces in Central Asia.
