The Center jointly with the Red Crescent in Kazakhstan support the elimination of disaster consequences in Turkestan region of Kazakhstan

Between 18 and 21 May 2020 The Center for Emergency Situations and Disaster Risk Reduction within the frame of its main goals visited a zone of disaster in Mahtaaral district of Turkestan region of the Republic of Kazakhstan, caused by a break of the dam of the Sardoba water reservoir on the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

In order to implement the detailed estimation of situation and determination the capacity of needed aid to the affected population, The Center’s representatives jointly with the Response Group of the Red Crescent of Kazakhstan explored Nurlyzhol, Zhanaturmys, Ferdousi, Orgebas, Dostyk and Zhenis settlements, which are most affected by the disaster.

The working meetings with the management of the Akimat of the Mahtaaral district and the Departments for Emergency Situations of Turkestan region and Shymkent city have been conducted with the purpose of effective collaboration with Local governments as well as with the Units of the Committee for Emergency Situations of MIA of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

As a result of work undertaken the measures on provision of the ongoing exchange of actual information about affected population between the Operational Headquarter for disaster response, the Center and the Red Crescent of Kazakhstan have been implemented, which will allow in a short time deliver to the disaster zone necessary commodities for social support of the disaster-affected population.

Joint coordinated operation of the Center and the Red Crescent of Kazakhstan on social supporting and providing a humanitarian aid to the affected population in the disaster zone of the Turkestan region continues.
