A working visit of the Vice-Minister of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan B. Abdyshev to the Center was held

Within the framework of the working visit of the Vice-Minister for Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. B. Abdyshev in Almaty on seismic safety at the site of the Center held a working meeting. The event was attended by the Director of the Center S.Aubakirov, Head of the Emergency Situations Department of Almaty N. Atygaev, Director of LLP “National Scientific Center for Seismological Observation and Research” D. Sarsenbaev and Head of the State Institution “Kazselezaschita” E. Sadyrbaev.

During the meeting, the Director of the Center, Mr. Aubakirov, informed the Vice-Minister about the key areas of the Center's activities, as well as about the measures taken to promote the initiative to create a Regional Early Warning System on transboundary disasters.

Mr. B. Abdyshev stressed the importance of active transition of the Center to practical activities, as well as attracting donor funding for their implementation, including in the field of information and communication technologies.

In addition, the Vice-Minister offered the Center to support the development of software based on artificial intelligence for modeling of possible destructions and consequences of earthquakes. This development can be based on the work done by the Almaty Akimat on passportization of buildings and structures.

Additionally, Mr. Sarsenbayev reported on the results of the visit of the Kazakh delegation to the People's Republic of China and the agreements reached on mutual exchange of data from seismological stations located in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of the PRC, Almaty city and Almaty region of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Vice-Minister also emphasized the importance of using neural networks and artificial intelligence training based on accumulated historical seismological data to predict seismic events and model their consequences.
