Ambassador of the European Union to Kazakhstan Aleška Simkić visited the Center

On November 4, 2024, Her Excellency Mrs. Aleška Simkić, Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Kazakhstan, visited the Center on a Working Visit.

The day before, on November 1, Mrs. Aleška Simkić participated in the ceremony of presenting credentials to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in Akorda, which confirms the official start of her diplomatic mission inKazakhstan.

The visit of Mrs. Aleška Simkić to the Center at the start of the diplomatic mission in Kazakhstan underlines the interest of the European Union in supporting disaster risk reduction measures at the Regional level.

During the meeting, the Director of the Center, Mr. Serik Aubakirov, introduced Mrs. Aleška Simkić to the main initiatives and areas of activity of the Center at the country and regional levels, and informed her about the projects implemented jointly with partners in the field of disaster risk reduction and adaptation to climate change, including those financed by the European Union.

Mrs. Aleška Simkić noted the role of the Center in the development of regional cooperation, emphasized the importance of the priority areas verified by the Center on the creation of a regional early warning system, a regional coordination center for emergency response in the countries of Central Asia, and expressedreadiness for further cooperation with the Center.
