Center shared the practice of using unmanned aircrafts with the staff of the Department for Emergency Situations of Almaty

On 9 February 2021 within the implementation of the UNICEF project: «Development of unmanned aviation to ensure the safety of territories and population, including vulnerable groups from emergencies» the Center for emergency situations and disaster risk reduction (hereinafter the Center) demonstrated the possibility of using unmanned aerial vehicles in the interests of preventing and eliminating natural and man-made emergencies for the staff of the Department for emergency situations of Almaty (hereinafter DES of Almaty).

International expert and trainer on the use of UAVs Timur Tamenov using the Center's UAVs demonstrated the practical possibilities of their use in finding victims in remote mountainous area, using thermal imaging technologies, mapping the area and creating 2D and 3D modeling of emergency place.

Because of the meeting, agreements had been reached to create a joint mobile group from among the employees of the Department for emergency situations of Almaty and the Center for developing the practice of first response to various types of emergencies using unmanned aerial vehicles.

Staff of the Department for emergency situations of Almaty expressed gratitude to the UNICEF office in Kazakhstan and the Center for the opportunity to obtain theoretical knowledge and practical experience on the use of UAVs in the interests of preventing and responding to natural and man-made emergencies.
