Central Asian Countries to Unite for Strengthening Disaster Resilience: Regional Forum – Meeting of Heads of Emergency Authorities
On October 16–17, 2025, in Dushanbe, Republic of Tajikistan, under the chairmanship of the Tajik side, a high-level event will take place – the Regional Forum – Meeting of Heads of Emergency Authorities of Central Asian countries.
The Forum is organized by the Committee of Emergency Situations and Civil Defense under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan in cooperation with the Center for Emergency Situations and Disaster Risk Reduction (CESDRR), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR).
The Forum will be attended by the heads of emergency authorities of the five Central Asian countries, leaders of national hydrometeorological services, representatives of mayor’s offices of pilot cities under the regional UNDP project, UN agencies, as well as international and non-governmental organizations.
Key topics of discussion will include enhancing the resilience of cities in the region to disaster and climate change risks, the development of early warning systems within the “Early Warning for All” initiative, transboundary water resource management, and the coordination of priority areas of regional cooperation in disaster risk reduction.
At the conclusion of the event, a number of documents are expected to be adopted, including a Final Protocol defining priority areas of joint work for 2026–2027 aimed at strengthening cooperation and enhancing the resilience of the region’s countries to disasters and emergencies.
