Experts from authorized government agencies and international organizations discussed and agreed on measures to strengthen capacity for disaster risk reduction and disaster preparedness in the agricultural sector of the Kyrgyz Republic
As part of the technical cooperation project "Strengthening capacities for disaster risk reduction and disaster preparedness in the agricultural sector of the Kyrgyz Res public" , the representatives of FAO, M KR emergencies , Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Rural Development , the Center and the Emergency Management and reduction the risk of natural disasters in Bishkek held a joint meeting technical working groups for discussion and coordination of projects plans for DRR and adaptation to climate change at the local level and the model report emergencies and natural disasters at the district level.
During the joint TWG meeting, the experts discussed and preliminarily agreed upon:
- Structure and content of plans for disaster risk reduction and adaptation to climate change at the local level (at the level of Aiyl aimaks);
- Structure and content of a model of regular reports on the effects of emergencies and natural hazards in the agricultural sector area (agriculture, hunting and forestry, fishing);
- Recommendations for improving the existing policy and methodology for reporting on the impact of emergencies and natural hazards on agricultural sectors at the district level (agriculture, hunting and forestry, fisheries);
- Other documents and materials aimed at strengthening capacities for disaster risk reduction and disaster preparedness in the agricultural sector of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The participants of the joint TWG meeting made an agreed decision that the experts of the interested ministries and departments of the Kyrgyz Republic and international organizations will additionally consider and within two weeks present their comments and suggestions on each of the submitted documents, and the experts of the Center will finalize their final versions and submit for consideration participants in the final national seminar in June 2021.
