Meeting of the Working Group (Experts) of the Regional Forum – Meeting of the Heads of Emergency Management Authorities of Central Asian Countries Held
Almaty, 27 August 2026. A meeting of the Working Group (experts) of the Regional Forum – Meeting of the Heads of Emergency Management Authorities of Central Asian Countries was held at the premises of the Center for Emergency Situations and Disaster Risk Reduction (CESDRR).
The meeting was organized by CESDRR with the support of UNDP, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Experts from the Central Asian countries discussed and agreed on the following draft documents proposed for consideration at the upcoming Regional Forum – Meeting of the Heads of Emergency Management Authorities of Central Asian Countries, to be held in October 2026:
- Draft Concept of the Regional Forum – Meeting of the Heads of Emergency Management Authorities of Central Asian Countries, Tashkent, Republic of Uzbekistan, 19–21 October 2026, under the chairmanship of the Uzbek side;
- Draft Regional Concept for Enhancing the Resilience of Cities in Central Asian Countries to Disaster Risks and Climate Change until 2030;
- Draft Regional Roadmap for Mitigating the Consequences of Transboundary Mudflows and Floods;
- Proposals for Establishing a Regional Mechanism for International Response to Large-Scale and Transboundary Emergencies.
The participants took note of and endorsed the implementation results and draft outcome documents of the following initiatives:
- UNDP Regional Project “Strengthening the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction System in Central Asia”;
- UNDP Regional Project “Enhancing Urban Resilience to Disasters and Climate Change in Central Asia”;
- GIZ Regional Programme “Climate Risk Management in Central Asia.”
The Central Asian countries expressed their intention to strengthen joint efforts and take further coordinated measures at the regional level in order to advance regional cooperation among the countries of Central Asia and achieve a higher level of collaboration that meets the vital interests of the countries and peoples of the region.
