Fifteenth meeting of the Center Council

On December 24, 2024 the fifteenth meeting of the Council of the Center for Emergency Situations and Disaster Risk Reduction was held at the Center under the chairmanship of the Kyrgyz side. The meeting was attended by the Minister for Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Arinov, Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic Mr. Shamyrkanov.

At the meeting, the Council members were presented with the results of the Center's work for 2024 and priorities of activity for 2025. Information was provided on the progress of the Center's projects civil protection, adaptation to climate change, and the introduction of information and communication technologies in Central Asian countries.

In his speech, the Minister for Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Chingis Arinov, emphasized the high level of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan in civil defense, emergency prevention and response. He also highlited the Center's platform as a unique international venue that contributes to strengthen the capacity of emergency response agencies and enhancing the skills of rescuers. In addition, the head of the Ministry for Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan stressed the importance of the Center’s cooperation with the regional branches of the ministry for more effective work.

Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic Urmatbek Shamyrkanov, after hearing the report of the Center’s Director noted that the Center is a key platform for addressing disaster risk reduction issues both at the regional and global levels.For  further development and practical implementation of  the priorities of the Center’s activities, it is necessary to pay more attention to the issues of personnel training and the implementation of regional projects in disaster risk reduction that will meet modern challenges, be focused on long-term impact and contribute to enhancing the Center’s effectiveness, as well as strengthening its positive influence on the regional security as a whole.

The Council adopted a report on the budget execution for 2024 and approved the budget for 2025, and discussed personnel issues.

Following the meeting, the Council members appreciated the results achieved by the Center in 2024 and decided to intensify the Centre’s efforts for more effectively use its potential in implementing international programmes and projects.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the relevant decision of the Council of the Center was signed.
