The next Regional Forum-Meeting of the Heads of Emergency Authorities of Central Asian countries is planned to be held for discussion and making coordinated decisions on the further strengthening regional cooperation in disaster risk reduction
Taking into account the risk of large-scale and transboundary emergencies in Central Asian countries, and to discuss issues on strengthening regional cooperation in disaster risk reduction, the implementation of the Sendai Framework for DRR and the Strategy for the development of cooperation between Central Asian countries in DRR for 2022-2030, the next Regional Forum - Meeting of the Heads of emergency authorities of Central Asian countries (the Regional Forum) is planned to be held in Dushanbe, on October 4 - 6, 2022 under the chairmanship of the Tajik side.
Regional Forum - Meeting of the Heads of emergency authorities of Central Asian countries is a permanent consultative platform on strengthening and developing regional cooperation in DRR, prevention and response to emergencies. The participating countries of the Regional Forum are the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan. The Regional Forum is open for other countries to join.
This high-level event is held within the framework of the European Union-funded program “Strengthening Financial Resilience and Accelerating DRR in Central Asia”.
Event organizers:
- Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, as the chairing party;
- Center for Emergency Situations and Disaster Risk Reduction as the Secretariat of the Regional Forum - Meeting of the Heads of Emergency Authorities of Central Asian countries;
- European Union, UN Office for DRR, GFDRR and World Bank - technical and financial support.
During the Regional Forum it is planned:
On October 4, 2022: extended meeting of the Regional Scientific Technical Council (RSTC)
On October 5, 2022: discussion of progress, tasks, and determination of action plans in priorities of the Plan of Practical Measures (Roadmap) for the implementation of the Strategy for the development of cooperation between Central Asian countries in DRR, meeting of the working group (experts) of the Regional Forum.
On October 6, 2022: Regional Forum - Meeting of the Heads of emergency authorities of Central Asian countries, where it is planned to submit following issues for discussion and decision-making:
- the Plan of Practical Measures (Roadmap) for the implementation of the Strategy for the development of cooperation between Central Asian countries in DRR in 2022 and the Roadmap for 2023–2024.
- Mid-Term Review of the Implementation of Sendai Framework for DRR in Central Asia.
- Strengthening the resilience of Central Asian countries to climate change.
- On measures to create a regional system of early warning and mutual information about the threat and emergency situations.
- On measures to introduce innovative information and communication technologies to reduce disaster risk.
- Cooperation in DRR in Central Asia in 2023, alignment of international programs with national and regional priorities.
- Proposals for the next Regional Forum -Meeting of the Heads of emergency authorities of Central Asian countries.
- Minutes of the Regional Forum - Meeting of the Heads of emergency authorities of Central Asian Countries.
