Newly appointed UN Resident Coordinator in Kazakhstan acquainted with the work of the Center
On January 29, 2025, Mr. Stephen O'Malley, Acting UN Resident Coordinator in the Republic of Kazakhstan, paid a working visit to the Center.
During the meeting, Mr. Serik Aubakirov, Director of the Center, introduced Mr. O'Malley to the main initiatives and directions of the Center's activities at the country and regional level, provided information on the projects implemented jointly with partners in the field of disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation, including measures taken to improve humanitarian activities in the CA countries.
Mr. Stephen O'Malley gave a positive assessment of the Center's role in the development of regional cooperation, emphasized the measures taken by the Center to provide humanitarian assistance to the affected population during the floods in Kazakhstan in 2024.
Mr. O'Malley also noted the importance of the priorities identified by the Center on the establishment of a regional coordination center for emergency response in Central Asian countries and expressed his intention to further support the Center in the field of crisis coordination and disaster risk management.
