Officers of the MES of Republic of Uzbekistan improved their capacity in the use of GIS technologies and mapping in emergencies
In the period from June 5 to June 9, 2023, in Tashkent, the Center, together with a partner, the British non-governmental organization MapAction, conducted another training for specialists from the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the use of GIS technologies and mapping in emergency situations.
Experienced GIS experts from Great Britain and Germany were invited as trainers.
The event was attended by 16 employees of the central office and territorial divisions of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
MapAction specialists have prepared a training course with presentation materials and video tutorials on using all the features and tools of the QGIS geoinformation program. Based on the results of daily tests and the completion of simulation tasks, participants were awarded certificates of successful completion of the mapping training.
During the training, the representative of the company "Safety GIS" (Republic of Kazakhstan) M. Khalilaev made a presentation on the measures taken to create and develop the Automated GIS system of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In total, from 2019 to 2023, the Center, together with MapAction, conducted 14 trainings on the use of GIS technologies, while more than 309 employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Uzbekistan were trained.
This training was organized and conducted in pursuance of paragraph 2 of the Action Plan for 2023-2024 on the introduction of innovative information and communication technologies in the countries of Central Asia in the field of disaster risk reduction.
