Psychologists of MES of Kazakhstan improved their capacity on providing psychological support to people in emergencies using new who methodologies
During the period from 23 to 26 November 2021 within the frame of the Center and UNICEF Project on “Development of unmanned aviation for disaster prevention and response focused on vulnerable groups” the 4-day advanced training for psychologists of MES RK on providing assistance to people suffering from mental and neurological disorders in emergencies was conducted.
During the training, trainers explained in detail the main purposes of the WHO Action Program on gap elimination in the field of mental health protection. Participants were acquainted with the Guidance on assistance to people with mental disorders in emergencies for specialists of non-specialized medical institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, developed within the Project Target “Adaptation of methodological materials of WHO on mental health in emergencies”.
The training program consisted of such topics as: severe stress disorder, sorrow, depression, psychosis, suicide, epilepsy etc. Particular attention was paid to practical exercises, where participants considered relevant cases and proposed own options using obtained knowledge.
In total, the training was attended by 58 specialists of the Ministry for Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
