The Center jointly with FAO conducted a training on the use of damage and loss assessment tool in the agricultural sector of the Kyrgyz Republic
In the period from July 30 to August 2, 2024, within the framework of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization project "Digitalization of damage and loss assessment methodology for the agricultural sector in Kyrgyzstan", the Center jointly with FAO conducted a series of trainings on the application of damage and loss assessment methodology in the agricultural sector of the Kyrgyz Republic and the use of the e-DLA tool at the national and local levels.
On July 30 of this year in Bishkek city a training was held with participation of interested central executive bodies - Ministry of Emergency Situations, Ministry of Water Resources, Ministry of Agriculture and Processing Industry, Ministry of Digital Development, Ministry of Economy and Commerce and National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The Center invited FAO Technical Advisor for Europe and Central Asia Mr. Dragan Angelovski, FAO Technical Advisor for Europe and Central Asia, to present the tools of the developed software for the Kyrgyz Republic on assessment of damage and losses in the agricultural sector as a result of disasters - "e-DLA", and also to train representatives of government agencies of the Kyrgyz Republic to work in the system. During the training Mr. Angelovski presented elements, modules, functions and work processes of e-DLA software. Also, FAO project experts in the Kyrgyz Republic demonstrated practical examples of data entry into the software. Representatives of governmental bodies presented their proposals for making changes and improving the functionality of the developed software.
In the period from August 1 to 2 this year in Ton rayon of Issyk-Kul oblast (Bokonbaevo village), a training was conducted with participation of representatives of the Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic in Ton rayon, Department of Agrarian Development of Ton rayon, SE "Ton fish breeding plant", "Ton forestry of the Forestry Service under the Ministry of Agriculture, Ton rayon Department of Statistics and local self-government bodies.
During the training, the participants were demonstrated the capabilities and functionality of the e DLA software, as well as organized simulation exercises in groups to fill data into the test version of the software.
According to the results of the training and during the testing of practical application of the software by territorial commissions for civil protection, specialists - experts of local state administrations and local self-government bodies, organizations and institutions, representatives of economic entities operating in the field of agriculture, forestry and fisheries were noted the suggestions of the training participants and made recommendations for improving the demo version of the software for damage and loss assessment in agriculture.
