The Center is building capacity to the initiative make city resilient (MCR2030)

In the period from 29 to 31 July 2024 in Nanning, PRC, senior Expert of the Center Zulfiya Yesniyazova took part in the Forum on the developing urban disaster resilience (MCR2030), organized by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) jointly with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR).

The forum brought together more than 60 experts from 16 countries including Vietnam, Mongolia, South Korea, Cambodia, Maldives, Philippines, Thailand, Pakistan, Bangladesh, PRC, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan to share their knowledge and experience on urban sustainability.

A key expected outcome of the Forum was the identification of investment opportunities for potential future collaboration with ADB and UNDRR.  

During the forum, a session on focused group discussion of priorities for identifying follow-up actions to ensure the city disaster resilience was presented.  During this session, the Center presented project proposals for the establishment of a Regional Early Warning System and the creation of a Digital Atlas of Transboundary Hazards in Central Asia countries.

Of all the proposals presented by the forum participants, ADB was interested in the Center's proposal to create a digital atlas of transboundary hazards of the CA countries, in this regard an agreement was reached to organize further cooperation on this issue in working order.

This forum has set an example of sharing experiences, making recommendations and identifying opportunities for further investment and partnerships in urban resilience.
