The Center strengthens its capacity to promote hygiene for Central Asia in both emergency and sustainable development conditions
From September 23 to September 27, 2024, the Center's senior expert, Z.S. Yesniyazova, took part in a training on hygiene promotion in both emergency and development situations.
The training was organized by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies jointly with UNICEF.
The purpose of the training was to expand the circle of qualified hygiene promotion specialists at the regional and country levels, as well as to strengthen the knowledge and skills of national societies in Central Asia to implement effective, adequate and inclusive hygiene promotion activities.
The training was attended by more than 20 experts in the field of water, sanitation, hygiene from 5 Central Asian countries, who shared their knowledge and experience in hygiene promotion in WASH, the profile of a rapid response for a WASH employee, demonstrated practical skills in the field of applied hygiene promotion, including training and organizing volunteers and the ability to explain to others how public health risks interact with WASH.
During the training, the Center's senior expert Yesniyazova Z.S. also presented to the participants the work carried out by the Center in the field of WASH, within the framework of existing projects.
The training focused on group exercises with building emergency scenarios, examples from practice, and developing recommendations.
This training demonstrated an example of creating a platform for exchanging potential and experience in strengthening a regional network of practitioners in the field of hygiene promotion, using tools and resources used by the IFRC and UNICEF in Central Asia.
