The Center took part in a working trip to Japan regarding disaster management
From January 28 to February 2, 2024, the Director of the Center, Mr. Serik Aubakirov, as part of the delegation of the Ministry for Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, participated in a study visit on disaster management in Japan.
The working visit was organized with the support of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The Vice-Minister for Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan Y. Nurpeisov, Director of the National Scientific Center for Seismological Research D. Sarsenbayev, Head of the Emergency Prevention Department of the Ministry for Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan R. Amrin, Deputy Head of Almaty Department gor Emergency Situations A. Aiteev also took part in the study visit.
During the working visit, the Kazakhstani delegation visited the Civil Disaster Management Core Nagaoka, Nagaoka Disaster Prevention and Crisis Management Headquarters, Nagaoka Earthquake Archive Center "Kyoku Mirai, discussed with the Chuetsu organization the disaster prevention and safety related to the prevention of natural disasters in Nagaoka, held a discussion with the Industrial Policy Division of Niigata Prefecture, studied the experience of the Niigata Prefectural Disaster Prevention Bureau, and held a meeting with the Vice President of JICA in Tokyo, Ms. Imoto Sachiko, who in charge for the region of East and Central Asia and the Caucasus.
Delegation members studied Japan's experience in disaster risk reduction and focused on discussing seismic safety and earthquake-resistant construction.
At the end of the working visit, a reception was held with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Japan, Mr. Sabr Yesimbekov and the vice-governor of Niigata Prefecture, Mr. Kasatori Kouichi.
As a result of the event, representatives of JICA Headquarters in Tokyo are interested in the activities of the Center and expressed their willingness to collaborate more closely with the Center at the regional level, talked about the potential for holding joint events at the Center for the Central Asian region in disaster risk reduction, in particular on early warning system and seismic safety in 2024.
