The Center took part in the Regional Workshop on the implementation of the project “Modernization of hydrometeorological services in Central Asia”
During the period from February 29 to March 1, 2024, the World Bank, as part of the implementation of the Project for the Modernization of the Hydrometeorological Service in Central Asia, held a Regional Workshop in Almaty on the transition to the Second Phase of the Project and the formation of a Roadmap for regional cooperation. During the workshop, representatives of hydrometeorological services, emergency authorities of Central Asian countries, regional and international organizations discussed current challenges and opportunities for expanding regional cooperation in the field of hydrometeorology, and also presented their proposals for improving hydrometeorological infrastructure, data collection and processing in the region.
On the sidelines of the seminar, Director of the Center, Mr. Serik Aubakirov held bilateral meetings with Mr. Stanislav Kim - Regional Team Lider on Climate Change and Disaster Resilience of the UNDP Regional Hub in Istanbul and with Mr. Sergey Makarov - Head of the GIZ Project “Climate Risk Management in Central Asia”, during which joint plans for organization of the upcoming Regional Forum - Meeting of Heads of Emergency Authorities of Central Asian Countries in the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as issues on the formation of a Roadmap for the implementation of the strategy for the development of cooperation between the countries of Central Asia in the field of disaster risk reduction for the coming years.
The named key partners, as well as the Deputy Chairman of the CoES and Civil Defense under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, Major General Isozoda Sulaimon Umar, visited the Center’s office on a working visit!
