The Eighteenth Meeting of the Center Council
On April 3 this year, the Center hosted the eighteenth meeting of the Council of the Center for Emergency Situations and Disaster Risk Reduction, chaired by the Kazakh side.
The meeting was attended by Lieutenant General Chingis Sairanovich Arinov, Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Kanatbek Koichubekovich Chynybaev, Minister of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic.
During the meeting, the Council members were presented with the Center’s 2025 performance results and its priority areas of activity for 2026. Information was also provided on the progress of the Center’s projects in the fields of disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, and the introduction of information and communication technologies in the countries of Central Asia.
In his remarks, Chingis Sairanovich Arinov, Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, emphasized the role of the Center as an effective platform for coordinating efforts, exchanging experience, and developing coordinated decisions. In addition, the Head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan highlighted the importance of the Center’s further development, expanding the geography of cooperation, and strengthening the Center’s practical efforts to enhance the material and technical capacities of emergency agencies.
Kanatbek Koichubekovich Chynybaev, Minister of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic, noted that the Center serves as a key platform for addressing disaster risk reduction issues at both the regional and global levels. In turn, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic expressed its readiness to support efforts aimed at strengthening the Center’s capacity for its further development and the practical implementation of its priority areas of activity, as well as enhancing its positive impact on the security of the region as a whole.
The Council adopted the Center’s 2025 activity report and its main areas of work for 2026, reviewed the 2025 budget implementation report, approved the budget for 2026, and agreed on the nomination of Bolot Arstanbekovich Sharshenaliev, put forward by the Kyrgyz side, for appointment to the position of Chief Expert of the Center’s Disaster Risk Reduction Department.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the relevant decision of the Center Council was signed.
