The representatives of the Swiss Red Cross visited the Center
On November 4, 2024, representatives of the Swiss Red Cross, including Ms. Andrea Schmid, Emergency Situations Program Coordinator of the Department of International Cooperation; Mr. Bektur Imankulov, Emergency Situations Expert of the Department of International Cooperation; and Ms. Tatyana Gaplichnik, Consultant on Fundraising from Private Sources in Central Asia and the Asia-Pacific Region, visited the Center. They were accompanied by Ms. Asem Akhmet, Acting Director of the Emergency Situations Department of the National Red Crescent Society of Kazakhstan; Mr. Nurlan Panzabekov, Head of the Disaster Risk Reduction Department; and Ms. Alua Kulzhanova, Coordinator for Volunteers and Youth Affairs.
The visit by the Swiss Red Cross representatives was connected with the development of a project focused on disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation in Kazakhstan.
During the meeting, the Director of the Center, Mr. Serik Aubakirov, informed the Swiss Red Cross delegation about the main areas of work of the Center at both the country and regional levels. He shared updates on the progress of joint projects with partners in disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation and presented information on the Center’s regional initiatives.
The Swiss Red Cross delegation acknowledged the Center's coordinating role in Central Asia and expressed their intention to involve the Center in collaborative efforts on disaster risk reduction.
