UN WFP representatives discussed regional cooperation and food security in Central Asia with CESDRR
On June 26, 2026, representatives of the United Nations World Food Programme (UN WFP) paid a working visit to the Center.
The event was attended by Kojiro Nakai - UN WFP Representative and Country Director in the Kyrgyz Republic, Almaz Choroev - Head of Donor and Public Relations at UN WFP in the Kyrgyz Republic, Simon Hollema - UN WFP Representative, Country Director in Tajikistan and Munira Amidkhonova - UN WFP Partnerships Specialist in Tajikistan.
During the meeting, the Director of the Center, Dzhergalbek Ukashev, provided detailed information on the Center’s activities, including key initiatives and priority areas of work in the Central Asian region.
Kojiro Nakai, UN WFP Country Director in the Kyrgyz Republic, and Simon Hollema, UN WFP Country Director in Tajikistan, shared the core focus areas of UN WFP’s operations at both country and regional levels.
The meeting served as a platform for exchanging experience and coordinating efforts in disaster risk reduction and humanitarian response within the Central Asian region.
The participants emphasized that cross-border cooperation and the synchronization of approaches within the UN structure could significantly enhance the effectiveness of technical and food assistance programs.
In conclusion, the parties outlined a roadmap for further joint actions aimed at integrating regional programs and strengthening resilience to climate and economic risks.
The participants expressed confidence that joining forces would lay a solid foundation for the sustainable development of the entire Central Asian region.
