Working Meeting of the Center for Emergency Situations and Disaster Risk Reduction with IOM UN Migration
On 13 February 2026, the Head of Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Kazakhstan, the Country Office with Coordinating Functions for Central Asia, Mr. Serhan Aktoprak, paid a working visit to the Center for Emergency Situations and Disaster Risk Reduction (the Center).
During the meeting, Deputy Director of the Center, Mr. Nurlan Bekbossynov, briefed Mr. Aktoprak on the key initiatives and main areas of the Center’s activities, including projects implemented jointly with international and non-governmental organizations in the field of disaster risk reduction, development of monitoring systems, and strengthening of cross-border cooperation in the Central Asian region.
In turn, Mr. Aktoprak informed the participants about the current activities of IOM, outlined the Organization’s priority areas in the region, and expressed interest in further strengthening cooperation with the Center in disaster risk reduction and in providing assistance to populations affected by natural and man-made emergencies.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their mutual readiness to expand partnership cooperation and discussed the possibility of signing a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation in the near future.
