Working visit of the UN Resident Coordinator for the Republic of Kazakhstan: Strengthening cooperation in the field of humanitarian assistance
On May 15, 2024 a working meeting was held at the Center with the UN Resident Coordinator for the Republic of Kazakhstan Ms. Michaela Friberg-Storey, and the Deputy Head of the UN Resident Coordinator Office, Partnership Officer Ms. Dina Khassenova.
The meeting took place against the backdrop of recent events related to floods in Kazakhstan and aimed to improve the platform for coordinating humanitarian assistance, where the Center’s role is considered as a potential partner in ensuring communication between the international community and government structures of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
During the meeting, the Center provided the participants with information on the progress of joint projects with partners in disaster risk reduction, adaptation to climate change, including measures taken to improve humanitarian activities in Central Asian countries.
The UN Resident Coordinator for the Republic of Kazakhstan highly appreciated the Center’s activities since her last visit.
Following the meeting, joint action plans were outlined for further cooperation at the regional level through the Center’s platform.
The visit took place in the form of a constructive dialogue and confirmed the readiness of the parties to develop cooperation in humanitarian assistance and ensuring the safety of the population.
