Experts of the emergency departments of the Central Asian countries, the UNDRR Office, the World Bank and the Center for Emergency Situations and DRR discussed and agreed on practical measures for the preparation and holding of the Regional Forum-Meeting of the Heads of Emergency Departments of the Central Asian countries
As part of the European Union-funded program “Strengthening Financial Resilience and Accelerating Disaster Risk Reduction in Central Asia”, on August 5, 2022, a meeting of the Working Group (experts) of the Regional Forum-Meeting of the Heads of Emergency Agencies of the Central Asian countries was held via videoconference.
The event was organized by the Center for Emergency Situations and Disaster Risk Reduction.
The experts of the Central Asian countries discussed and agreed on the draft documents proposed for discussion at the upcoming Regional Forum-Meeting of the Heads of Emergency Departments of the Central Asian countries in October 2022:
1. Implementation of the Plan of Practical Measures (Roadmap) for the implementation of the Strategy for the Development of Cooperation between the Central Asian Countries in the Field of DRR in 2022 and the Plan of Practical Measures for 2023-2024. progress and plans.
2. Mid-term review of the implementation of the Sendai Framework for DRR in the countries of Central Asia.
3. Strengthening the resilience of Central Asian countries to climate change.
4. On measures to create a regional system of early warning and mutual information about the threat and the occurrence of emergency situations.
5. On measures to introduce innovative information and communication technologies in order to reduce the risk of disasters.
6. Cooperation on DRR in Central Asia in 2023: alignment of international programs with national and regional priorities.
7. Modern and innovative methods for monitoring glaciers, snow cover and outburst glacial lakes under climate change.
8. Cooperation on DRR and climate change in Central Asia in 2023: alignment of international programs with national and regional priorities. Risk of technogenic and anthropogenic disasters.
The solution of these issues in the future provides for the coordination of actions to strengthen regional cooperation in the field of DRR, combat climate change and emergency situations, the implementation of the Sendai Program for DRR and the Strategy for the Development of Cooperation between the Central Asian Countries in the Field of DRR for 2022-2030, the creation of early warning systems and mutual informing about the threat and occurrence of emergencies.
Following the meeting of the Working Group (experts) of the Regional Forum-Meeting of the Heads of Emergency Departments of the Central Asian countries, the final document was adopted.
