Improving preparedness for public health emergencies
On September 8, 2022, the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Society (IFRC) held an online regional presentation on the implementation of the Guidance on Law and Public Health Emergencies preparedness and response.
The Director of the Center, Mr. Dzhergalbek Ukashev, was invited by the leadership of the IFRC as a participant in the discussion on the topic: how legal preparedness for public health emergencies will help build regional cooperation in Central Asia. The event was also attended by representatives of WHO regional and country offices in Central Asia, UNISDR Regional Office, disaster risk management and health authorities, National Red Crescent Societies, as well as humanitarian, development and public health stakeholders in region. The participants of the event exchanged views on the experience of Central Asia in the field of legal preparedness for COVID-19.
The regional presentation was held to provide Central Asian governments, National Red Crescent Societies, and humanitarian, health and development partners with guidance on how to improve legal preparedness for public health emergencies.
