Recommendations for the action plan for 2023-2026 on the implementation of the National Concept of comprehensive protection of the population and territories of the Kyrgyz Republic against emergencies for 2018-2030 were discussed
On June 3, 2022, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Center for Emergency Situations and Disaster Risk Reduction, with the support of UNDP and WFP in Kyrgyzstan, held an expanded meeting of the Interdepartmental Working Group to assist in the implementation of the Concept of comprehensive protection of the population and territories of the Kyrgyz Republic from emergency situations in 2018-2030 years.
The participants of the extended meeting of the Interdepartmental Working Group discussed the results of the analysis and comprehensive assessment of the implementation of the activities of the Plan of the first stage (2018-2022) and the draft Plan of the 2nd stage of the implementation of the Concept for 2023-2026.
The concept of comprehensive protection of the population and territories of the Kyrgyz Republic from emergencies until 2030 defines the main priorities for the development of the state system of Civil Protection and the creation of conditions for sustainable development. The importance of developing an effective Implementation Plan for the second stage of the DRR Strategy (2023-2026) cannot be overestimated, both in terms of potential policy development and in terms of integrating disaster risk reduction into the implementation of government goals.
First Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic Mr. Mambetov emphasized the role of the Interdepartmental Working Group in the joint activities of ministries and authorities in disaster risk reduction.
UNDP Representative in the Kyrgyz Republic, Mr. Juwon Hwang, noted that the next DRR Action Plan will help Kyrgyzstan achieve the national sustainable development goal through poverty reduction, efforts to address climate change, public health, food and nutrition, and sustainable urban development.
On the results of the extended meeting of the Interdepartmental Working Group, it was decided that there should be the additional consideration in the interested ministries and authorities of proposals to be included in the Action Plan for Disaster Risk Reduction for 2023-2026 and submitted to the Interdepartmental Working Group for consideration by July 15, 2022.
The final Action plan (2023-2026) will be formally submitted for review and approval by the Government by August 2022.
As a result, the participants adopted the Protocol of the expanded meeting of the Interdepartmental Working Group to assist in the implementation of the Concept for the comprehensive protection of the population and territories of the Kyrgyz Republic from emergencies for 2018-2030.
