Representatives of local authorities of Central Asian countries got acquainted with the tools of the UNDRR global initiative "Making cities resilient 2030"

On June 23, 2022, on the basis of the Center for Emergency Situations and Disaster Risk Reduction in Almaty, the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, with the support of the governments of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, hosted the Regional Introductory Meeting on Making Cities Resilient (RSR 2030).

The meeting was attended by representatives of local authorities of Central Asian countries, UNDRR experts, and national technical specialists. The participants of the meeting got acquainted with the concepts of DRR in cities, with the global initiative “Making cities resilient 2030”, with the INFORM sub-regional index for Central Asian countries as a source of information about known risks in the region, with tools for assessing and analyzing resilience (Scorecard) and developing local DRR strategies.

During the workshop, representatives of the member cities of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan shared best practices.

The seminar was held with the aim of involving these cities in cooperation to develop recommendations for integrating the principles of safe development.
