The Center has conducted trainings on Sendai Framework monitoring for National Focal Points of Central Asian countries
The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction jointly with the Center for Emergency Situations and Disaster Risk Reduction in Almaty in order to foster the achievement of Global Targets, specified by Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 and within the frame of the Project “Strengthening regional cooperation and facilitation of Sendai Framework implementation in Central Asia” during the period from 18 to 28 February 2022 has conducted training on Sendai Framework monitoring for representatives of State authorities of Central Asian countries:
- On 18 February 2022 - training for representatives of Turkmenistan. Representatives of the Ministry of Defense and National Statistics Committee took part.
- On 22 February 2022 - training for representatives of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Representatives of the Emergency prevention Department of the Ministry for Emergency Situations of the Republic of Uzbekistan and National Statistics Committee took part.
- On 26 February 2022 - training for representatives of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The staff of the Emergency Prevention Department of the Ministry for Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan took part.
- On 28 February 2022 - training for representatives of the Kyrgyz Republic. Representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic took part.
Trainings consisted of two sessions:
First session was devoted to the theoretical study of Sendai Framework for disaster risk reduction, its goals, as well as review of other key framework agreements.
During second session, the practical measures to implement indicators of the National Report of Sendai Framework for DRR were presented.
Trainings are prepared and conducted by CESDRR staff, which took part in Training for trainers on Monitoring System of Sendai Framework for DRR 2015-2030 in April 2020, organized by UNDRR.
During training course, the participants had considered several issues, they encountered in completing the 2020 report.
Overall, the participants noted the effectiveness of separate training for Central Asian countries and need in further course of activities via videoconference.
The training participants asked several questions regarding specific terminology in the field of disaster risk reduction, innovations in reporting approaches.
The training was held in interactive and trust atmosphere.
The Center, as a Regional Resource Center of the Regional Platform for DRR on Sendai Framework monitoring in Central Asian and Caucasus region organizes and conducts the training on Sendai Framework monitoring with representatives of CA region on the regular basis.
