The Center starts the implementation of the GIZ regional project “Climate risk management in Central Asia”

On 1 June 2023 the Manager of the GIZ Regional Project “Climate Risk Management in Central Asia” Mr. Sergey Makarov visited the Center and met with the leadership of the Center to discuss on the joint implementation of the Regional Project, that aims to improve cross-border climate and disaster risk management in Central Asia.

Within the Project, the Center implements the Second Component, which purpose is to create transboundary early warning system for hydrological disasters.

Furthermore, one of the Project’s goals is to stimulate the Regional dialogue in order to promote the issues of transboundary climate risk management in Central Asia. In this regard, this year GIZ becomes the main donor for organizing and holding the next Regional Forum-Meeting of the Heads of Emergency Authorities of the Central Asian countries.

At the end of the meeting, Mr. Makarov emphasized that the GIZ is interested in strengthening the capacity of the Center to stimulate efforts to increase the number of member states of the Center by expansion of its membership.
