The delegation of the Center took part in the Regional Seminar on Strengthening Cooperation in Disaster Management at the National and Subregional Levels
In the period from 23 to 25 May 2023, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) hosted a Regional Workshop on strengthening cooperation in disaster management at the national and subregional levels.
The event is organized by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies with the support of the EU Directorate General for Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid (DG ECHO) as part of the implementation of the global Pilot Programming Partnership (PPP) project.
The event was attended by representatives of the National Red Crescent Societies of the Asia-Pacific region, Europe and Central Asia, delegations of the Governments of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
During the workshop, the supporting role of the RCSL in supporting national, sub-regional and regional disaster risk reduction measures was announced and entry points for cooperation and exchange of best practices were identified.
Within the framework of the event, the head of the delegation of the Center, Mr. Chekirbaev M.A. made a brief report on the coordination support provided to the countries of Central Asia in the field of preparedness for natural disasters and their elimination, and also acquainted the participants with the Regional Coordination Mechanism for Response to Disasters and the priorities of the Center for the near future.
On May 24, a bilateral meeting was held between the Deputy Director Chekirbaev Meymanbek Arykchievich and the Coordinator of the Regional Office of the IFRC for Disaster Legislation Ms. Pauline Caspellan, who highly appreciated the activities of the Center as a coordinating regional organization in the Central Asian region. The meeting participants outlined and briefly discussed further steps in joint cooperation for the current year.
